Back From DIA 2012

Just returned from a very productive and informative trip to DIA 2012, the annual meeting of the Drug Information Association, which took place in Philadelphia, PA from June 24-28. In the past, we’ve had an exhibition booth, but this year I wanted to spend more time on the exhibition floor, evaluating what new and exciting developments are taking place in our industry.

Lots of new technology and innovation is taking place and was being introduced. I stopped by many exhibitor booths I had on my “visit list”, and unfortunately couldn’t hit them all. Among the companies and technology I found interesting:

  • Projecis has a simple and elegant web application for team collaboration and communication, while being incredibly cost effective. We are very excited to be working with the Projecis team to integrate SimpleCTMS with Projecis.
  • Omniscience Mobile has a number of exciting applications to connect with study subjects via their mobile devices, including enrollment, retention and diaries.
  • Endpoint is a fresh approach to IxRS, and we share an enthusiasm with the Endpoint team for using technology to streamline and optimize clinical trials.
  • Veeva Systems has a very interesting Cloud-based system for regulatory document and content sharing. We are glad to see others innovating in the "clinical cloud" space, as we have done with SimpleCTMS.

I found it to be an excellent event and look forward to returning again next year. I also managed to find time to visit a number of current clients of SimpleCTMS based on the East Coast, some of whom I hadn’t met in person before. It’s always great to reinforce your customer service with client site visits, where they can ask you questions face to face in real time and offer suggestions and feedback for improvement. I really enjoyed meeting a number of new users of SimpleCTMS, and look forward to my next visit.
